For http://pop17.com I interviewed Alana Taylor about her blogging experience at NYU. Citizen journalism is changing journalism today. People with a cell phone camera or computer can take a picture or video that reports news and upload it to the internet. The barrier to entry is so low. What kind of news would the break? The story can be around any topic from politics to celebrity as long as it's fresh and breaking news, the quality of the content does not matter. Because it's less expensive to buy equipment and, if you are willing to pay a little more, anyone can do it at high quality. Citizen Journalist, Alana Taylor, http://alanataylor.com, created a controversial story when she blogged about her classroom activity. The journalism professor at NYU, where she attends, wanted the information removed and prohibited any other student from posting classroom activities to blogs or vlogs online. His reaction fueled a debate about journalism and citizen journalism online.
